Former UFC champion Jon Jones made it clear that he would give up the absolute protagonism of a card, including a hypothetical main fight held at the White House, to face Alex Poatan. The statement was made last Tuesday (25), when responding to fans through their social networks.
Jones remained engaged in the questionnaire and returned to talking about the confrontation in another part of the interaction. The former light heavyweight champion (93 kg) and also former owner of the heavyweight belt admitted that the fight is not only in his hands, but guaranteed that he is physically ready for any move by the UFC in this regard.
“It’s a little out of my control. I’m getting in shape, I’m lean and fully capable of going into a training camp. I guess time will tell,” Jones wrote.
Even with the declared interest of both fighters, the UFC CEO, Dana Whitehas already stated that he is reticent about the duel because he considers that Jones has experienced years of instability, which included legal problems, suspensions and friction with the organization.
Poatan, now light heavyweight champion, is enjoying his sporting and media peak, while Jones, aged 38, announced his retirement from the sport this year, leaving his future uncertain.
