Atalanta-Fiorentina 2-0 today, Serie A. Goals and updated standings

Atalanta beat Fiorentina 2-0 at home on the thirteenth matchday of Serie A and relaunched their European hopes by taking eleventh place. The Viola, however, remain stuck in penultimate position and right in the relegation zone. The goals from Kossounou in the first half and Lookman in the second half were the deciding factors.

The match

Fiorentina started strong with Kean who created an opportunity in the 5th minute but was stopped by Carnesecchi. Atalanta responds in the 13th minute with De Ketelaere, this time it is De Gea who intervenes, who then has to work hard to block a low shot from Zappacosta in the 27th minute. The Dea goalkeeper was instead busy blocking Piccoli’s shot in the 36th minute, while the Spaniard intervened on De Ketelaere a minute later. The match took place in the 41st minute, with Atalanta taking the lead thanks to Kossounou’s cross shot, who took advantage of De Ketelaere’s assist and beat De Gea at the far post.

De Ketelaere, by far the best of his team on the pitch, shined in the second half, first with a shot in the 48th minute and then helping Bergamo double the lead. His shot was blocked by De Gea, but ended up at the feet of Lookman, who made it 2-0 in the 51st minute. Fiorentina tried to react in the 63rd minute with Dodo and especially Kean, who hit the post with his head in the 76th minute. Kean’s header was also stopped a minute later, and he then responded with greater precision in the 76th minute and this time hit the left post. It then ends 2-0 at the New Balance Arena.
