FSV Mainz 05 is only relying on interim coach Benjamin Hoffmann for Friday’s game against Borussia Mönchengladbach and wants to introduce the new coach afterwards. “You can assume that we are very, very confident that we have found a coach,” said sports director Christian Heidel at a press conference at the bottom of the Bundesliga one day after parting ways with Bo Henriksen.

Heidel doesn’t want to give a name

The league leaders will inform you about this “towards the weekend”. “We have a very, very concrete idea,” added Heidel and said to the media representatives: “Please don’t throw names at me now, then I’ll get icy silence.”

The Dane Henriksen had to leave after eight games without a win in the upper house. The 46-year-old Hoffmann, previously responsible for the U23s in the regional league, is now preparing the team for the game against Gladbach (8.30 p.m./Sky). The Rheinhessen team has been without a win for eleven home games across the season. The last home win came in February when FC St. Pauli was defeated 2-0.
