Malago’ gives the numbers for Milan – Cortina: 36 thousand jobs

With the Olympics “we are providing jobs to 36 thousand people: more revenue 600 million euros”: this was reported by the president of the Milano Cortina Foundation,
Giovanni Malago’, interviewed on Rtl 102.5 in ‘Non Stop News’.

“Today there are 56 days until Milan-Cortina”, recalled the former CONI number one, “someone is in a panic but I am calm, every day that is missing is very useful”.

“Until February 6, when there will be the inaugural ceremony, there is a journey of the torch: 12 thousand km”, Malago recalled. “In 60 cities the torch will sleep in the evening, with many sporting giants of the past carrying it”, he underlined, “we started with a trio from the Stadio dei Marmi and continue across the territory. The flame will pass in all Italian UNESCO sites”.

“As usual there is a pinch of truth but there is a lot of misinformation and then there is someone who probably enjoys telling the story only from one point of view. There is a very significant amount of tickets, qalmost 50% which is under 40 euros of all events, some even under 20 euros” and added “If you go to see a Champions League final rather than a World Cup football match, it is clear that there are a certain number of tickets that are part of packages of people who want a certain type of service, perhaps they are also often linked to logistics, transportation, to the part which is obviously not just exclusively ticketing, as indeed exists today in all American professional leagues” he then added.
“We are completing one of the last tranches of placing it on sale on the market, we are very satisfied with the response from people” he finally concluded.

“Good conditions for the Olympic truce”

“We went two weeks ago to the United Nations Building as a delegation from the International Olympic Committee with President Kirsty Coventry, a very important former athlete and double Olympic medallist. I don’t want to say that it surprised us much, but we certainly left sensationally satisfied because there were 165 countries present, including Russia, and they all accepted the IOC resolution.” Thus the president of the Milano Cortina Foundation, Giovanni Malago’, speaks on RTL 102.5, regarding the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympics.

“We have carried forward what is a key element of our world, of our statutory charter, which is the Olympic charter – he continued – whereby from one week before the opening ceremony to one week after the closing of the Paralympics, any activity linked to war conflicts must stop and Russia voted in favour. I cannot go too far, what is certain is that if there had not even been a vote in favour, I would say that hope would already have been much weakened. Today there are some premises so maybe this happens. It would be a very strong signal if this moment of peace and truce could be respected during the Olympic competitions in our country.”
