Handball players challenge world champions France in the semi-finals

The German handball players will face defending champions France in the semi-finals of the World Cup. The Équipe Tricolore won their quarter-final in Rotterdam against European Championship runners-up Denmark 31:26 (17:12).

The duel for a place in the final is a new edition of the Olympic quarter-finals and will also take place in Rotterdam on Friday (5.45 p.m./Sporteurope.TV/ARD). At the summer games in France last year, the DHB team had to admit defeat 23:26.

Germany also narrowly lost two other test matches in March. National coach Markus Gaugisch’s selection is hoping for its first World Cup medal since 2007. Olympic champions Norway and co-hosts Netherlands face each other in the second semi-final.
