Coritiba’s under-17s and Athletico’s under-20s win titles in the youth categories

After winning the first game 1-0, Coritiba held on for a 2-2 draw, with goals from the defender Gabriel Ibson and the attacker Rikelmeand kept the cup. During the campaign, Alviverde finished the group stage as leader of Group A, with six games, four wins and two draws. In the knockout stage, they beat Juventude and Grêmio to reach the final, against Internacional.

Coach Renan Tavares selected the team with Hugh; João Botelho, Ruan Matheus, Gabriel Ibson and Guilherme Mesquita; Diego Alves, Fellipe Mendes and Arthur Daniel; Ruan Campos, Rikelme and Rafael Delfes.

On the bench, Coxa still had 16-year-old midfielder Khensane, who, in 2025, spent the entire season with the under-20s, debuted in the main team and is considered a jewel of the club.

The game was exciting. After just six minutes, Inter opened the scoring and took the decision to penalties. However, in the 35th minute, Coxa equalized with Gabriel Ibson and soon turned the game around, with a goal from Rikelme. Soon after, Coxa lost Rafael Delfres, the team’s top scorer and runner-up in the competition with six goals, sent off. Even with one less, the team managed to hold on.

In the 49th minute of the second half, Inter tied the game, but were unable to come back. The U-17 Copa Sul trophy represents the category’s main title of the season, which also reached the final of the U-17 Paranaense Championship.

Athletico’s U20s are two-time Copa Sul champions

On Saturday (6), at the Caju CAT, the under-20 team Athletico also won the Copa Sul category title. With goals from Bruninho, Sorriso and João Gomes, Furação dominated the game and beat Criciúma 3-0 (see goals below).

In the first leg, the result was 0-0. Athletico is two-time champion of the competition. In 2025, there were 12 games and the team had a campaign of seven wins, three draws and two defeats.
