Trainer gives update on ski star Gisin

Gisin fell violently during downhill training on Thursday and injured his cervical spine. She was first taken to the hospital in St. Moritz and later to a special clinic in Zurich. According to the Swiss ski team, the two-time Olympic champion is doing well given the circumstances. Gisin can move his arms and legs “normally”, but has to undergo surgery on his cervical spine. She also injured her right wrist and left knee.

Swiss team badly hit

Gisin won gold in the Alpine combined at the 2018 and 2022 Winter Games, and almost four years ago in Beijing she also came third in the Olympic Super-G. Before her, the top Swiss riders Lara Gut-Behrami and Corinne Suter had already been seriously injured this winter. Gut-Behrami will miss the entire season.

The American Lindsey Vonn secured victory in the first World Cup downhill this winter. The next race is on Saturday.
