Stadium purchase by FC Bayern is getting closer

The purchase of the Unterhaching sports park by FC Bayern Munich is getting closer. According to media reports, the German soccer record champions will be the owner of the stadium in the community in the south of Munich from January 1, 2026. FC Bayern Munich’s footballers will then play in the stadium, which opened in 1992.

No official confirmation yet

In a non-public meeting on Wednesday evening, the Haching local council is said to have unanimously approved the sale of the sports park to the Allianz Arena München Stadion GmbH, which belongs to FC Bayern. Both contracting parties only want to comment publicly after a notary appointment, which is scheduled to take place next week. The purchase price is said to be around 7.25 million euros.

A new stadium has been an issue for the Bayern women for a long time. The team is currently playing at the FC Bayern Campus, and the stadium there only holds 2,500 spectators. The footballers also occasionally appear in the Allianz Arena, which has a capacity of 75,000 spectators. However, this stadium is too big for the standard program.

There is already a collaboration with SpVgg Unterhaching

For the Munich footballers, who won the championship and cup double last season, the move could result in better overall conditions. Highlight games in the Allianz Arena would still be possible.

The Unterhaching sports park offers space for around 15,000 fans. The local regional league team is currently playing in the Unterhaching sports park. Since there is a strategic partnership between FC Bayern and SpVgg Unterhaching in the youth sector, a solution should also be found in the event of Germany’s top club purchasing the sports park from the city of Unterhaching. The gaming association is said to have not exercised a right of first refusal.
