“Legacy? Infrastructure and sports culture”

“What will be the legacy of Milan Cortina? I always talk about material and immaterial infrastructures. The legacy, starting from the territory, will certainly be more efficient infrastructures, in some cases regenerated such as the bobsled, skeleton and luge track of Cortinawhich will once again be useful for Italian schools”. These are the words of the Minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodion the sidelines of the reopening event of ‘Th Borca di Cadore – Park Hotel des Dolomites’.

Abodi added that the Italian school “had dried up”, because without a dedicated infrastructure it is difficult to cultivate the vocation: “Thanks to the collaboration with the Italian Winter Sports Federation and the Italian Ice Sports Federationthis Italian school of three disciplines starting from bobsleigh, which was born here, will regain strength and promotion and we will return to being a center of international excellence. We must have the patience to wait for the time that comes later, because the legacies announced are in the hopes and spirit with which we have worked. What will then count are the results. Abodi: “Olympics? Everything will be appreciated when completed”

The minister also spoke about the response of the territories for the Olympic Games: “We are talking about more than 22 thousand square kilometers, it is a commitment that goes beyond the portion of territory that benefits from this extraordinary opportunity. There will be more than two billion viewers who will see what the Dolomites aremay seem obvious because they are a world heritage site, but we need to nurture this knowledge and the Olympics and Paralympics will help.”

Abodi explained that the work done “will be appreciated when everything is completed, including the bobsleigh, skeleton and luge track in Cortina, including the 8 thousand trees that will be planted and which will demonstrate that it is possible to improve what has been abandoned and therefore restore it, refunctionalize it without causing trauma to the environment”. And again, in conclusion: “We hope that our slightly broader vision will then transfer into the realization, towards the skeptics who are still there, that they will be wonderful Gameson a human scale.
