Inter beat Genoa 2-1 and are back in command: Bisseck and Lautaro were decisive

At the Ferraris Stadium, Inter wins 2 to 1 against Daniele De Rossi’s team. Bisseck and Lautaro put the Nerazzurri back on top. Vitinha scored Genoa’s goal in the 68th minute in an attempt to close the gap.

Inter therefore wins again in the championship and returns to the top of the table. By beating Genoa away, the Nerazzurri took advantage of the results of their direct competitors and climbed into first place with 33 points, one more than Milan and two more than Napoli, waiting for Roma who, before the match against Como tomorrow, are stuck on 27. The goals scored in the first half by Bisseck and Lautaro Martinez were decisive, to which Vitinha responded in the second half.

The first opportunity fell at the feet of the hosts, when in the 4th minute Colombo placed the ball towards the small area, where Vitinha missed it by a whisker. The rossoblù are punished a minute later. Lautaro recovers a ball near the baseline on the right flank and serves Bisseck, who comes back and with a precise left foot puts the ball into the corner to Leali’s left: 0-1. The conceded goal seems to stun Genoa, who struggle to overcome the opposing midfield, while Inter takes the field galvanized by the immediate advantage. Chivu’s team is constantly approaching the rossoblù area with more solutions. In the 22nd minute Lautaro enters the area centrally and shoots against Leali, who manages the ball.

In the 31st minute there’s a chance for Esposito, but the home goalkeeper keeps good guard again. He can’t do anything, however, when in the 38th minute Lautaro scores the guest’s second. Carlos Augusto, served with a game change by Barella, verticalizes for the Nerazzurri captain, who elbows Marcandalli on the short side of the area, wins a series of tackles and pierces the Genoa goal with a tense left foot. In the remaining minutes of the first half, Genoa remained unable to react concretely. The recovery begins without major shocks. After the first ten minutes, Inter began to regain the pitch, crushing their opponents in the last 30 metres.

Yet in the 68th minute, just when the Nerazzurri seemed to be in control of the match, the goal arrived which halved Genoa’s deficit. Confusion among the Nerazzurri defenders which Vitinha takes advantage of, who takes advantage of Sommer’s timid exit and, after skipping over him, puts the ball into the net. The goal awakens De Rossi’s team, which returns to be seen in the opposing half of the field.

Inter’s fort shook on a couple of occasions, but held out until the final whistle. After this day, the Nerazzurri will fly to Saudi Arabia for the Italian Super Cup, which will see them involved in the semi-final against Bologna on Friday 19th. Then, after Christmas, Chivu’s men will be busy at San Siro against Atalanta (kick-off on Sunday 28th at 8.45pm). For Genoa, the next match on the calendar will always be against Atalanta, on 21 December at 8.45pm.
