Aicher, however, continues to amaze: The greatest German hope had only won the St. Moritz downhill on Saturday ahead of US superstar Lindsey Vonn, and a day later she fell in the Super-G. Now she managed another coup in the goal run. “I just drove,” Aicher flirted in an interview with BR. “Skiing is going in the right direction.”

Neureuther enthusiastic about Aicher

“I always have to take my hat off to this woman,” said ex-ski ace Felix Neureuther as a TV expert. Aicher now has three podium successes this winter Olympics. “Sensational,” said Neureuther. Aicher announced that he doesn’t want to rest now, but will compete again at speed events in Val d’Isère next weekend.

Dürr (34), however, suffered a small setback after a second place in Copper Mountain when she merged and was eliminated.

Shiffrin once again in his own league

Shiffrin, who now has 105 victories in the World Cup, 68 of them in slalom alone, once again showed an outstanding performance. To put it into perspective: She has won more races in this discipline alone than the long-time World Cup dominator Marcel Hirscher from Austria in all disciplines combined (67). In Courchevel she was more than one and a half seconds ahead of Rast, Aicher was 1.71 seconds slower than the US star.
