Rome, 50 thousand euros from the Italian National Health Service for oncohematology for children of Umberto I

Representatives of the association visited the hospital, taking the proceeds of the ‘1° Battito’ solidarity project to its destination. The initiative was born on the occasion of the Crai Cup Charity Award, the charity quadrangular which took place on 15 November at La Salle Sport – Villa Flaminia (Rome): in addition to the NIS, the Italian national team of journalists, a Banca Fideuram selection and the Italian national team of Olympic champions were also on the field. Now, during the meeting which took place in the General Management Hall of the healthcare facility, the check for the Department directed by Loredana Amoroso was officially signed and delivered.

The contribution will be used for department humanization projectswith the aim of making the days of young patients and their families more welcoming and brighter, explain the promoters. Present at the ceremony were the director of the Umberto I Pediatric Clinic Alberto Spalice, the head physician of the Pediatric Oncohematology Department Loredana Amoroso, Laura De Vito of the Health Directorate, the general director of the Umberto I Polyclinic Fabrizio d’Alba, the health director Maria Augurusa and the administrative director Gioia Amadei. Present for the National Health Service were Luca Cipriano (honorary president), Joseph Fiore (executive president), and the notary Edoardo Marcucci (treasurer of the NIS).

“There are people who have taken us to heart and, thanks to them, a series of important aid is arriving”, highlighted the General Manager of Umberto I. “Now is the time to stop, put them together and understand how to use them best. Our goal is to improve welcome, support and assistance, should anything be needed. Thank you very much for your time, availability and attention. Continue to take care of us: this is a well-placed trust and I believe we can be one guarantee”. “I come from this wonderful place – said Cipriano – I did my degree, specialization and doctorate here. Coming back today is a special emotion. I am a gynecologist and I have really experienced this department up close”.

“When this association was born – continued Cipriano – together with Alberto Spalice, Dr. Amoroso and president Fiore, I immediately thought that it was right to do it here. Without credibility certain things cannot be achieved: it seemed like an impossible gamble and instead we did it. It was an honor and I hope to be able to do even more, seeing the commitment you put in every day. Coming back here made me take a leap back thirty years”.

At the Policlinico Umberto I, added Fiore, “we found not just an institution, but faces, smiles and outstretched hands. Real people, with whom to build something concrete. Our association is young, but its heart is full of values, passion and desire to do and 50,000 euros raised at the first event are just the beginning: a dream that has become reality thanks to trust, teamwork and extraordinary partners who have allowed us to transform every euro into real help, without expenses, without waste. We started from sport, but we look beyond: every gesture, every project, every smile donated is our way of bringing care, prevention and hope.”

The association, the treasurer Marcucci finally underlined, “will not make monetary donations, but will directly use the resources collected according to the projects agreed with the Policlinico Umberto I. Among the projects particularly appreciated by the association is that of humanising the pediatric oncology department. We will communicate shortly which, among the various projects submitted, will be the definitive one”.
