Tragedy in the neighborhood: The former German national team player died after falling from the cable car

In the tragic accident that happened on Sunday at the ski resort Savin Kuk in the north of Montenegro, a 34-year-old German citizen and former professional soccer player was killed Sebastian Hertner. The accident happened while he and his wife were using a two-seater bicycle, from which, in front of her eyes, he fell from a height of about 70 meters.

According to available information, around 1:00 p.m., there was a technical failure when one two-seater separated from the cable and hit the seat behind it, after which Hertner fell into the abyss. His 30-year-old wife was stuck on the road, and members of the emergency services evacuated her with a broken leg.

The accident happened in the small ski resort Savin Kuk, which is located near Žabljak, in the Durmitor mountain massif, at an altitude between 1515 and 2212 meters above sea level, and has about 4.7 kilometers of ski trails.

Sebastian Hertner had a rich football career behind him. He performed in the 2nd Bundesliga for TSV 1860 Munich, Erzgebirge Aue i Darmstadt 98while in recent years he played in the Oberliga as a captain ETSV Hamburg. He was also a young member of the German national team in the under-18 and 19-year-old selections, and he shared the ballroom with the later world champion.
