Bayern striker Jackson leads Senegal to their opening win

Bayern striker Nicolas Jackson gave World Cup participants Senegal an opening win at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. The 24-year-old scored two goals in the West Africans’ 3-0 (1-0) win against Botswana.

Jackson, who scored in the 40th and 58th minutes, was able to put himself in the spotlight for his home country after he had taken on the role of back-up for striker Harry Kane in Munich. The striker, on loan from Chelsea, has so far scored three goals in twelve games in the Bundesliga.

Senegal were clearly the dominant team in the game and could have won even more. The third goal was scored by Cherif Ndiaye (90th). The 2022 African champions took the top spot in Group D with three points ahead of the Democratic Republic of Congo, which won against Benin.
