Bayern parted ways with world champion coach Gordon Herbert on Saturday after a clear defeat at AS Monaco. Veteran coach Svetislav Pesic will coach Bayern until the end of the season. At 76, the Serb is the oldest coach to have coached on the sidelines in the Euroleague.

Marko Pesic sees players as having a duty

Managing director Marko Pesic, who left at the end of the year, said he was no longer involved in the coaching decision, but can understand his father’s commitment as an interim solution until the end of the season. “The decision must not affect the new season. The new season must be planned strategically,” said Marko Pesic on “Magentasport”.

Marko Pesic, who led basketball in Munich to the top European level during his 15-year tenure, now sees the players above all as being challenged. “I don’t see any player who has taken a step forward this season,” said Pesic. “Everyone has to take a step forward now, not just the coach. The players have to take responsibility now.”

Hapoel too strong from the start
