ÖSV-Adler has had enough: Ex-Olympic champion ends his career

The Salzburger Ski jumper Daniel Huber has to be 32 years old on Friday End of career announced. The injury-plagued team Olympic champion from Beijing 2022 had not taken part in the World Cup since March 2024 due to a knee injury. In September, Huber made his jumping comeback on mats, but it was no longer enough to return to the World Cup team.

Huber justified his withdrawal in an ÖSV broadcast with a “changed focus that is more towards family and new challenges”. Head coach Andreas Widhölzl regretted the decision.

“It’s a shame that we’re losing a very successful ski jumper in Daniel in our ranks. I’m sure that another World Cup comeback would have been possible for him. But it’s also clear that we have an extremely high level of performance at the top. In this respect, his decision is absolutely humanly understandable,” said Widhölzl about the 2023/24 ski flying World Cup winner, who celebrated a total of three World Cup victories.

He wishes Huber all the best for his future journey, Widhölzl continued.
