Botafogo sells Lucas Halter to Houston Dynamo for R million

Revealed by Athletico the defender Lucas Halter was sold by Botafogo to Houston Dynamofrom the United States. The defender, who played for Vitória on loan this season, will have his first experience in international football, in Major League Soccer (MLS).

The value of the transfer is 2 million dollars, around R$ 11 million at the current price, according to journalist Venê Casagrande. The North American club acquired 70% of the athlete’s economic rights. Vitória will earn 10% of the negotiation value, approximately R$1.1 million, referring to the so-called “showcase fee”.

Halter was purchased by Botafogo at the beginning of 2024. At the time, the Rio club disbursed R$7 million to Athletico to acquire 80% of the defender’s economic rights.

At 25 years old, Lucas Halter became Vitória’s absolute starter this season and played an important role in the campaign that ensured the Bahian club’s permanence in Series A. In total, he played 48 matches and scored five goals. The performance led Leão to present a proposal to buy the defender permanently, but the Houston Dynamo’s attack came during the negotiations and ended up seducing the athlete.

Revealed at Athletico, Halter established himself at Vitória

Lucas Halter was revealed by Athletico and debuted with the professional team in 2019, when he was considered a great promise. However, he was unable to establish himself at the club. In 2022, he was loaned to Goiás, where he remained for two seasons and performed well, before being signed permanently by Botafogo, in 2024.

In his first season for the Rio team, he played 39 matches and scored two goals. Afterwards, however, he lost space and ended up loaned to Vitória, where he once again stood out and aroused the interest of North American football.
