Appeal reduces the partial closure of Sánchez-Pizjuán to one match

The Appeals Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) reduced the partial closure of the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán stadium from three to one match, as well as the fine to Sevilla FC, which went from 45,000 to 6,000 euros, for the incidents during the match against Real Betis on matchday 14 of LaLiga EA Sports on November 30.

“The Appeals Committee of the RFEF has partially upheld the appeal of the Sevilla FC legal office following the resolution of the RFEF Disciplinary Committee, which imposed the partial closure of the Gol Norte Stand for three matches,” the Seville entity reported on its website.

Now, as reported by Sevilla, Appeal considers that the events that occurred should be classified as serious, and not “very serious”, as Discipline initially assessed. “In this sense, said sanction finally amounts to a fine of 6,000 euros and closure of sectors N20, N11 and N12 of the lower Gol Norte stands of the stadium for one match, as well as a warning of total closure in case of recidivism due to alteration of the order of the match of a serious nature,” the statement said.

On November 30, the derby between Sevilla and Real Betis was suspended for a few minutes in the final stretch of the match due to the throwing of lighters and bottles from the stands at the green and white players, which Discipline understood as “very serious infractions.”

In the 88th minute, referee Munuera Montero stopped the match for more than 15 minutes due to objects being thrown from the north end of the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, with a bottle about to hit the green and white goalkeeper Álvaro Valles. The match resumed without incident and the score remained 0-2.

However, Sevilla announced that it will appeal this sanction before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAD) and “will exhaust all possible legal avenues.” “Likewise, the legal office will also appeal to Appeal the six-match sanction imposed by the Disciplinary Committee on the player Marcao after his expulsion in the match against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu,” they added.
