The NHL brings “snowfall” to the outdoor game in Florida

In Miami an outdoor NHL match between the Florida Panthers and the New York Rangers will be played on Friday.

The NHL tries to bring the feeling of winter to the event, which does not happen naturally in warm Florida.

ABC7 says that the audience of around 30,000 spectators will get snow on their necks during the match. NHL representative Steve Mayer however, it is not specified how the snowfall is to be implemented.

At least there are no flakes from the sky. According to official data, the last time it snowed in Miami was in 1977. A temperature of around 22 degrees is forecast for the city on Friday.

StadionILLA the temperature is cooler than normal due to the arrangements for the ice hockey match, but even there the mercury rises to around 15 degrees.

“This is a show. It also includes a very important match, but we know people come here for the extraordinary experience,” says Mayer.

According to him, one side of the stadium is staged to look like a beach and the other like a snowstorm.

Everyone NHL followers are not fired up by the plans. NHL’s PR department X update received a critical reception.

“The real winter classics have real snow,” says one commenter.

“Stop this stupidity. There is no snow in Florida and the ice is going to be miserable,” says another.

“I’ll skip it. I want to see real outdoor hockey,” states the third.

No outdoor NHL game has been played in Florida before. Other warm states, such as California and Texas, have held matches.
