Campeonato Paranaense opens challenging season for Athletico and Coritiba

Increasingly empty, partly due to the low technical standard of the majority of participants, largely due to the weight of more attractive competitions on a national and continental level, the state championships had their dates reduced in the calendar presented by the CBF for this season.

This is an atypical season, as, in addition to the traditional competitions, such as the Brazilian Championship, the Copa do Brasil and the two South American tournaments, there will be a greater number of dates dedicated to the extravagant World Cup, with an absurd 48 teams.

And there is a second absurdity: the tournament was scheduled for games in three countries currently involved in political conflicts: the United States, Canada and Mexico.

I am increasingly convinced, definitively, that the directors of FIFA and the continental confederations have lost the notion of what it means to value and exalt the technical level of the biggest meeting of national teams in world football.

As I come from the time when only the 16 best teams participated in the World Cup, there is no comparison with the mediocrity into which the competition was transformed as, in an inconsequential way, from an eminently technical point of view, the number of qualified teams increased.

Now we will reach the peak of the cretinism of the top hats, who only think about money, public exposure and ridiculous display, as is the case with the current president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, as a rule dressed in an exotic way, with a black suit and white sneakers. Infantino became the symbol of contempt for art football, spectacle football and everything wonderful that has been seen in so many World Cups in the past.
