Athletico’s promise is blocked by Petraglia before debut in Paranaense

By order of President Mario Celso Petraglia, the defender Marcos André also known as Marcão, was barred from the premiere of Athletico in the 2026 Paranaense Championship. The information was initially released by the journalist Monique Vilelayes radio TMCand confirmed by OneTwo Sports.

At 20 years old, the defender was tipped to be a starter on the aspiring team, made up mainly of athletes from the under-20 team, which is led by Portuguese coach João Correia. However, a problem with contract renewal prevented the player from taking the field.

This last Wednesday (7), the day before the match, Marcão’s manager made a different proposal to what was agreed with Furacão. The fact displeased Petraglia, who decided to cut the defender from his team.

The situation arose after the agent received a financially greater offer from abroad, which Athletico did not even want to analyze. Given the proposal, the defender’s staff hoped to renegotiate the renewal, which is unlikely to happen. The board understands that the agreements were already established, which should prolong the imbroglio for the next few days.

Marcão arrived at CT do Caju in 2023 after Athletico spent around R$2 million to sign him permanently from Resende. The defender underwent an evaluation period at Lyon, a French club that was considered the player’s certain destination until Furacão executed the transfer.

Without him, coach João Correia selected Lucas Belezi and Habraão, athletes from the main team and old acquaintances of the fans, as Athletico’s starters in the debut of the State.

If the renewal with Marcão is blocked until an agreement is reached between Furacão and the athlete’s staff, the attacker Smile had his contract extended.

One of the main highlights of the youth categories, striker Sorriso extended his contract for another year, with the previous agreement valid until April this year. It is worth remembering that, last year, he was the top scorer for the under-20 team in the Paranaense Championship in the category, with 6 goals.

Despite expectations, Sorriso should be a reserve throughout the State Championship. This is because the 19-year-old player has competition from Renan Peixoto, who belongs to the first team, Felipe Chiqueti, more experienced, Bruninho, a 17-year-old promise worth R$370 million, and Kayke Paquetá, a standout member of the Brazilian team in the under-17 World Cup.
