This Sunday, the Spanish men’s indoor hockey team won the bronze medal in the European Championship, held in the German city of Heidelberg, after beating the host team from Germany 6-5 ‘in extremis’ in the consolation final.
After having been on the verge of the grand final the day before, due to their shoot-out defeat (3-3, 1-0) against Austria in the semis, the Spanish team took third place in the tournament thanks to a decisive goal from Pablo Román with seven seconds remaining in the match.
In the title match, Austria tied (3-3) with Poland and once again smiled in the shoot-outs with their 3-2 victory to win the gold medal of this EuroHockey Indoor Championships and leave the Polish players with the bitter taste of silver.
