Football: PSG and Rennes among the best training centers in Europe behind Barça and Real

France is an inexhaustible breeding ground for talent. The proof with the result, communicated this January 14, by the International Center for the Study of Sport (CIES) whose 529th weekly letter gives the ranking of the football clubs having “trained the greatest number of players aligned in the big 5 during the current season”.

The Big 5 corresponds to the five main football championships in Europe: England, Italy, Spain, Germany and France.

If the podium in this ranking is dominated by FC Barcelona, ​​which places 40 players from the famous and renowned Masia in a Big 5 club, and the rival Real Madrid with 35 players, Paris Saint-Germain appears in 3rd position. 31 players from the European Champion’s training center play in one of the major championships. Of these 31 young Parisian shoots, 6 still wear the tunic of the capital club.

More surprisingly, fourth place in the ranking is occupied by another French Ligue 1 club, Stade Rennais. The latter has become a real reference of the genre in recent years and has trained 29 players including Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga, or Parisians Désiré Doué and Ballon d’or Ousmane Dembélé.

The Dutch club Ajax (27 players) is the first club outside the Big 5 to appear in the ranking.

The CIES Letter also reveals the rankings for the last five and ten years. Each time the podium is dominated by the same clubs, namely Barcelona, ​​Real Madrid then PSG. The difference lies in 4th position which is occupied by Lyon (absent from the Top 20 for the current season) for the ranking over the last decade.
