At the ATP tournament in Auckland Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler narrowly missed an Austrian doubles final. Erler, regular player in “KURIER Austria Davis Cup Team”moved on Friday with his US partner Robert Galloway reached the final after two narrowly won games, but Miedler didn’t make it.
The Lower Austrian, ranked number two, won with the Portuguese Francisco Cabral his quarter-final match, but in the semi-finals he lost to the French Theo Arribage/Albano Olivetti. Nevertheless, Cabral/Miedler are traveling to Melbourne with a good feeling, after all they won the tournament in the previous week Brisbane.
They are now Erler/Galloway’s final opponents. The fact that two matches had to be played on one day was the result of the rainy Thursday, on which Erler and Miedler were unable to play.
