Morocco-Senegal: Moroccan National Education postpones an exam period to allow students to follow the final

A whole generation will be able to freely vibrate for their country. Questioned by its former minister Mohamed Ouzzine, the Moroccan Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports has decided to postpone a period of exams scheduled for Monday, January 19 throughout the country, as it announced in a press release published this Friday.

The reason? Allow students to be able to follow the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations of the Atlas Lions against Senegal in complete peace of mind the day before (Sunday, 8 p.m.). “This measure is taken taking into account the overlap between the evaluations initially planned and the final of the 2025 African Cup of Nations (…), and the strong interest aroused by this continental sporting event among students, their families and the entire Moroccan population,” explains the body.

Exams postponed for 24 hours

“By communicating this information, the Ministry reaffirms its commitment to continue to take all necessary measures to guarantee the best interests of students and reconcile the demands of the school year with the different circumstances,” she continues. As a reminder, Morocco is preparing to play a CAN final that it has been waiting for 22 years and a defeat against Tunisia in 2004.

Earlier in the day, the former Minister of Youth and Sports Mohamed Ouzzine had campaigned in favor of this decision, highlighting the popular and media enthusiasm created by the competition and the results of the national selection. The MP estimated that the meeting “will attract the attention of all components of society, especially since the majority of younger generations have never experienced a national sporting moment of such intensity”.

And to say, the last remaining places for the meeting are being snatched up at a high price in Rabat, where the atmosphere is likely to be exceptional at the Prince Moulay Abdallah stadium. For students, exams will therefore take place 48 hours after the final, on Tuesday January 20 and Wednesday January 21. Not sure that they won’t take advantage of this little postponement to revise further.
