The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) announced this Monday that it will take legal measures before the African Football Confederation (CAF) and FIFA itself so that both organizations “rule on the withdrawal of the Senegalese team from the field” during the final of the Africa Cup, “as well as on the events related to this decision.”
In a statement on its website, the Moroccan federation stressed that the decision to award a penalty, after the warning from the video referee room, in added time of the second half on Brahim Díaz, which motivated Senegal’s anger and its momentary withdrawal from the field of play, was “considered correct by all experts” and that all the controversy and tension that arose “significantly affected the normal development of the match and the performance of the players.”
“The FRMF expresses its sincere gratitude to the entire Moroccan public, who remained loyal to the national team with their massive presence and unconditional support during all matches, as well as in other matches. It also thanks all those who contributed to the success of this continental competition,” he stated.
