In a press release written by the Dogues Virages Est (DVE) and the Linselles Section, the supporters criticize the police for an “unacceptable” attitude, as was already the case in October 2024. One of them was then beaten and handcuffed during the match against Atlético Madrid.

“This evening in Vigo, as already a year ago, Lille supporters were confronted with an unacceptable attitude from the Spanish police,” they wrote. Without provocation on our part, we were threatened, intimidated and victims of police violence, forcing us to leave the scene in a climate of extreme tension. We were present only to support our team, in a peaceful and organized manner. »

Their anger also lies in the lack of support from the Lille club. “We also regret the lack of support and protection from our club, already noted during our previous trip to Spain,” we read in the press release. Leaving your supporters to their own devices in the face of such situations is incomprehensible and unacceptable. Football must never be a pretext for institutional violence. Fans are not criminals. »
