Bočkaj spoke about the accident that marked him: I made a scandal, I didn’t think

He is known to the public for his numerous off-field misdeeds, and the most resounding was the one from March 2019, when he crashed into a gas station. He fled the scene of the accident, and his blood alcohol level was 1.86. Because of this offense, he was given a suspended sentence of two years and that is why his transfer to Sarajevo failed. Seven years after the accident, he decided to open his soul and talk about the incident in the Denis Podcast.

– I don’t have much to add. I was the one who didn’t think, I was young. It’s not an excuse either, I did a bad thing and it hurt me. Me, my family, parents, we went through all that and we endured well, how much was talked about it and how much negativity there was. We made a big deal, I came back to play, I had a good contract and stats after that. I didn’t talk about it too much or come forward. I accepted my guilt and recklessness, I created a big scandal in Croatia and beyond.

He also mentioned that the trial is still not over and that he does not know what the final verdict will be.

– That was bad for me because then I was one of the best players in Osijek, and maybe even in the league. I did the worst thing to myself. The fact that I didn’t play 10 to 15 games due to the suspension could also be due to an injury or something else. I didn’t want to go out because even to this day nobody knows what happened. I don’t like to talk about it, the divorce isn’t over either. There are many čfacts that need to be considered and that were not considered, some were good and some were bad.

The left back made a career transfer in 2022 when he moved from Osijek to Dinamo za 2,7 million euros. He played 47 games in the blue jersey, scored seven goals and assisted nine times. This season, he played eight games for Varaždin and scored one goal. In his career, he still played for Zagorec, Inter Zaprešić, Maksimir i Locomotive. He played five games for the junior national team and scored a goal.
