Tobogganing – victories for Loch and Fräbel

With his fourth win of the season, tobogganer Felix Loch succeeded in the Olympic dress rehearsal. And he also immediately took the lead in the overall World Cup. The 36-year-old won the World Cup race in Oberhof with two best start and run times, 0.089 seconds ahead of his Austrian opponent and friend Jonas Müller. In the overall World Cup, Loch now has one point more than Müller. World champion Max Langenhan came in third and also defended his place in the overall ranking.

“The track was sensational. I always enjoy coming here,” said Loch. I’m very stable at the moment and can rely on my starts.” Loch, who competes for RC Berchtesgaden, wants to go to St. Moritz before the Winter Games and do “some more nice training runs” there.

In the women’s race, Merle Fräbel repeated her victory from the previous week. The European champion raced to victory from third place and relegated the Austrian Lisa Schulte to second place ahead of Julia Taubitz, who improved from eighth place in the first run to third. “I’m going to Cortina with a really good feeling. Nothing better than a World Cup victory. But I’m staying relaxed,” said Fräbel. Taubitz wasn’t completely satisfied despite her race to catch up. “The second run was nice. But it annoys me, one run good, one run great. That’s not what I want,” said Taubitz.
