It’s done! Mikaela Shiffrin secured victory in the Slalom World Cup before the Olympics. The American celebrated her seventh win of the season in this discipline in Spindleruv Mlyn – in the eighth race. This means she can no longer be caught in the overall ranking and can look forward to her ninth slalom ball. For the five-time overall World Cup winner, it is the twelfth discipline ball after two overall victories in the giant slalom and one in the super-G. In Špindlerův Mlýn, Shiffrin won by 1.67 seconds over Camille Rast. With two races to go, the Swiss is 288 points behind in the overall standings and no longer has a chance. Emma Aicher (GER) also came third on the podium.
The best Austrian was once again Katharina Troupe. The Carinthian improved to fourth place in the second round despite mistakes in the upper part, and she only missed the podium by three hundredths. Katharina Huber also made a leap forward and came seventh. The two of them have their Olympic ticket fixed. Katharina Gallhuber can also hope for the Olympics, she came 14th.
The race ended bitterly for Lisa Hörhager, namely in the hospital. In the fight for an Olympic ticket, she fell in the first round and was eliminated. According to ÖSV information, she was taken to the nearest hospital for clarification. Hörhager tore the syndesmotic ligament in his left ankle during slalom training around Christmas, and this area and his hip now hurt. Everything should be fine with the knee.
