Pedro Morisco is elected best player of the first round of Series A

Being the goalkeeper who made the most saves in the round, with nine, and also the one who made the most long passes, with ten, Morisco was ahead of outfield players, such as Danilo, from Botafogo, who scored 8.9, and Gabriel Menino, from Santos, with 8.7.

This was the third highest score received by Morisco since he debuted for the Coritiba professional, in December 2023, according to data from the platform. Coritiba does not think about leaving

After ending 2025 on a high, as one of the main names in Coritiba’s title campaign in Series B, Morisco began his vacation with a high profile and became the target of surveys from clubs in the national market. Flamengo and Bahia were teams that showed interest in the goalkeeper.

In 2025, still 21 years old, Morisco was the youngest starting goalkeeper among clubs in Series A and B of the Brazilian Championship. Now 22 years old, completed in January, the player repeats the mark in Série A in 2026, as the youngest undisputed starting goalkeepers in the elite are Gabriel Brazão, from Santos, aged 25, and Hugo Souza, from Corinthians, aged 26.

Internally, Coritiba treats Morisco as a strategic asset and plans to make the biggest sale in the club’s history with the player in the future. The board believes that the Series A dispute can further value the athlete, who has a contract with Coxa until the end of 2027.

At the end of the last Series B, Coritiba’s head of sports, William Thomas, reinforced that an eventual departure of young highlights will only happen at a “fair price”, according to the performance and margin of evolution of each athlete. At the time, the statement made direct reference to Morisco and also to striker Lucas Ronier.

At 22 years old, Morisco once again entered the radar of big clubs after the title campaign. He finished Serie B as the goalkeeper with the most clean sheets in the competition, with 17 games without being conceded in 30 games played. The number is even more significant considering that the athlete missed the first eight games of the championship after suffering an injury in the final phase of the Paranaense Championship.
