1. FC Köln has gained some breathing room in the fight to stay in the Bundesliga. After only one win from ten games, coach Lukas Kwasniok’s team won 1-0 (1-0) against table neighbors VfL Wolfsburg, which is slipping deeper and deeper into the crisis.
A single action by Linton Maina (29th) gave FC their second home win in a row in front of 50,000 spectators in the Müngersdorfer Stadium; the gap to the relegation place is currently eight points. The Wolves, on the other hand, are getting closer and closer to the dangerous zone under coach Daniel Bauer, who only took over in December.
Next week, Borussia Dortmund comes to the Autostadt, while Cologne hosts RB Leipzig.
