KuPS diamond Otto Ruoppi is getting his dream move to the German Bundesliga

Kuopio Ball Club Otto Ruoppi20, has been one of the hottest names in the Finnish football transfer market this winter. Kuopio Palloseura is about to receive the record transfer in club history from Ruopi, and Ruoppi, on the other hand, is about to receive his dream transfer to the very club he wants to move to.

According to the editorial information, Otto Ruoppi is about to sign a contract with 1. FSV Mainz 05, which plays in the Bundesliga.

Mainz is paying Ruop about 1.3 million euros to KuPS. It slightly surpasses KuPS’s previous record move, which was Matias Siltanen sale to Djurgården for 1.2 million euros.

The transfer amount paid by Mainz to KuPS is the largest transfer amount that a foreign club has ever paid to a Finnish club for a Finnish player.

The biggest transfer fee of all time is 1.8 million euros paid by Schalke Teemu from Puki to HJK, but a third of that transfer amount went to Sevilla, from where Pukki had transferred to HJK.

However, Ruoppi, who turned 20 years old on Saturday, is not going to immediately become a Mainz player, as KuPS wants to keep Ruoppi on loan in Kuopio for the spring season. Ruoppi will likely start the training season with Mainz in the summer.

Ruoppi will therefore play with KuPS in the first round of the Conference League playoffs, when KuPS will face the Polish Lech Poznan on February 19 and 26.

KuPS there has been a battle between the clubs for a long time behind the scenes for the attacking midfielder. According to the editorial information, the Danish club Aarhus GF was ready to pay Ruop even more than Mainz, but Ruoppi himself wanted to go to Germany. Earlier, the Dutch club Go Ahead Eagles was also ready to offer almost one million euros for Ruop.

In December, the KuPS Conference League match against Crystal Palace aroused the interest of numerous clubs in Ruoppi, which also raised the potential transfer amount to a whole new level. Against Crystal Palace, Ruoppi was building KuPS’s second goal in a match that ended in a 2–2 draw.

Ruoppi is traveling to Germany for a medical examination this weekend.

Mainz is currently in danger of relegation in the Bundesliga. It is in sixteenth place in the Bundesliga.
