FC Bayern: Serge Gnabry extends his contract until 2028

National player Serge Gnabry will stay at FC Bayern beyond the end of this season. As the club announced on Thursday, the offensive player has extended his contract, which expires in the summer, until 2028. It had already been indicated in recent weeks that the 30-year-old, who played regularly from the start in the first half of the Bundesliga, would stay in Munich.

“Serge Gnabry has grown with FC Bayern and is one of the absolute pillars of this team – he is incredibly important on the pitch and in the dressing room,” said sports director Max Eberl, according to a statement on the club’s homepage. “My goals are that things continue like this,” said Gnabry: “We are a real unit and can achieve great things.”

Gnabry has been under contract with Munich since 2017, with whom he won the Champions League in 2020, among other things.
When he first signed on the Isar, he “never thought” that he would stay for so long, he confessed. At that time, Bayern initially loaned him to TSG Hoffenheim for one season. Since he actually started in Munich in 2018, he has scored 100 goals and prepared 69 in 311 competitive games.

After Leon Goretzka recently announced that he would be leaving FC Bayern in the summer, the contracts of three professionals who played this season are now expiring. The Munich team is hoping for a signature from Dayot Upamecano after tough negotiations in the coming days. For Raphaël Guerreiro, a departure in the summer wouldn’t be a huge surprise. Otherwise, the only thing that remains to be seen is what Manuel Neuer’s future looks like. The goalkeeper will be 40 years old in March.

The Munich squad could currently be reduced: according to media reports, full-back Sacha Boey is moving to Galatasaray Istanbul. As Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports, among others, the 25-year-old Frenchman will be loaned out to his former club in Turkey until the summer. The deal is said to include a purchase option, with Galatasaray taking over Boey’s salary until the end of June. Official information was initially not available.

Bayern signed Boey from Istanbul at the end of January 2024 and gave him a contract until June 30, 2028. Galatasaray itself once happily announced in a press release that the Munich team had paid 30 million euros plus a five million euro bonus. Boey repeatedly struggled with injuries at FC Bayern and was unable to earn a regular place in his two years in Munich. The winter transfer window in Turkey is open until Friday.
