Winter Olympics 2026: images of Maxence Muzaton’s heavy fall during the descent

Big disillusionment for the first two French people to set off on the downhill at the 2026 Winter Olympics. Starting with bib 4, Maxence Muzaton was already a few tenths behind the first skiers.

But in the final turns, the Frenchman jeopardized all his chances with a terrible fall. The skier from La Plagne saw his ski slip and was unable to regain control and avoid falling to the ground.

Fortunately for him, he fell quite neatly, on his side. And despite a descent of several tens of meters on the slopes, embellished by a few turns on himself, Muzaton quickly reassured himself by managing to get up alone.

A few minutes later, it was his compatriot Nils Alphand who almost made a mistake. On the same section, his ski got stuck and he veered off the piste, drifting dangerously towards the safety nets. Fortunately, he managed to rebalance himself to relax and finish the race, far behind on the clock.
