Orban accuses referee of racism? ‘Mysterious’ tweet after sending off in Parma-Verona

Gift Orban accuses referees of racism? The Hellas Verona striker was sent off today, Sunday 15 Februaryafter just 10 minutes of play during the match against Parma, then lost 2-1 by the Scaligeri. At the basis of the decision of the match director Pairetto there would be one word too many shouted by Orban at the referee.

An expulsion born from an excessive protest, in short, which however, according to Orban, could hide something else. “Expelled for protesting a decision. As a black player in Italy, I can’t ignore how often we are treated differently“, wrote an account that appeared to belong to the Nigerian striker on X, “I love this game and all I ask for is fairness, respect and equal treatment on the pitch.”

At the end of the match, in solidarity with their member, Hellas Verona went into press silence, but in the evening they published a post on their official account to deny the message published by the ‘alleged’ Orban: “Regarding a post published today on a social media profile X attributed to the footballer Gift Orban, Hellas Verona specifies that this profile does not belong to Gift Orban“.
