Fernando Seabra reveals internal charges after Coritiba “blackouts”

The technician Fernando Seabra spoke about the need for internal charging at Coritiba to minimize the recent “blackouts” during matches.

In the 2-2 draw with Operário, in the first game of the semi-final of the Campeonato Paranaense, last Saturday (14), at Germano Krüger, Coxa again let a two-goal lead slip away, conceding the draw to the opponent.

A scenario that repeated what had already happened against Chapecoense, in the Brasileirão, when they wasted important points. Seabra highlighted that, in addition to the collective side, the individual actions of each athlete are decisive in moments like this.

“We need to charge ourselves, we need to be aware that collective organization is important and that it works well, but always the individual definitions of situations, whether offensive or defensive, are decisive for the game”, he stated.

According to the coach, the squad also needs to redouble its level of attention. “But beyond that, it means redoubling the level of attention, it means having an internal culture, personal and collective, of demand, but also of food, because it is preventive and encouraging, because it is also preventive”, he concluded.

Coritiba has a week to train

For the first duel against Operário, Seabra surprised by practically reaching full strength, even with little preparation time. Striker Breno Lopes, midfielder William Oliveira and defender Maicon did not play and were preserved. The team only held a short positional training session before the match.

As for the return game, scheduled for next Saturday (21st), at 4pm, at Couto Pereira, Coxa will have a week free for training, as they will only play again in the Brazilian Championship on Thursday (26th), at 8pm, also at home, against São Paulo.

“The tendency is that, as we start to have a few more open weeks, the training ballast will also provide some support in this sense. As you support the game better, as you are more complete, the tendency for you to make errors in judgment, errors in execution will also be less”, he pointed out.

Coritiba seeks to qualify for the final of the Campeonato Paranaense for the first time in the SAF era, which began in June 2023. Before that, the club stopped in the semifinals and quarterfinals of the State Championship.

Coach praises Coritiba’s full-backs

In the match too, full-backs Bruno Melo and Tinga had a good offensive performance with one assist each for Pedro Rocha’s two goals.

“Bruno is a player who hides a lot of passes, in the construction phase, when he is down there, he manages to have a good discernment in his choices… although he is not an acute and aggressive player individually or a sprinter to have depth through strength and speed, he has through the change of rhythm, through surprise”, he praised.

“Just like on the right side, we also have to talk about Tinga’s growth, you can see that they are already experienced players and that they are physically sustaining this marathon that we faced at the beginning of the year”, he pointed out.

The club is still expected to increase competition on the flanks in the coming days, with the loan arrival of right-back JP Chermont and left-back Felipe Jonatan.

In addition to these reinforcements, the board is still in the market looking for a center forward and is working to announce the reinforcement by March 3rd, when the transfer window closes.
