2026 Olympics: “It’s terrible, no one was good”: Clément Noël’s fatalistic observation after the slalom

He had no intention of making excuses. Seventh in the first round and author of an error which definitively took him away from the podium during the second, Clément Noël completely missed his slalom at the 2026 Winter Olympics. A disappointing result, like his teammates. Paco Rassat and Léo Anguenot went out in the first round, while Steven Amiez finished 18th, almost 4 seconds behind the new Olympic champion Loïc Meillard.

“It’s terrible for us,” regretted Clément Noël at the microphone of RMC Sport. We have a great team, we don’t deserve that. Now we deserve what we do. In the end, it’s the actions that count on the big day. Today, no one was good. Steven Amiez was not good enough, I was not good, Paco Rassat was not good, Léo Anguenot was not good. We can blame ourselves for lots of things. »

“A great team”

In his personal case, the Vosges was not kind either. “There’s not much positive to come out of the day,” he agreed. In the first round, there were a lot of approximations, a lot of errors, some good sections on a few gates with speed, but overall a lot of errors. Then in the second round, I couldn’t express myself, I went out quickly. »

Despite the overall results, Clément Noël wanted to remain positive about the future of this French technical team. “That doesn’t change the fact that we’re a great team,” he said. We still have to come out of these kinds of moments with our heads held high, telling ourselves that we have done great things, we will do great things in the future and we still have great goals ahead of us. »
