Medal hope Eduard Hallberg let it go: “Shit sport, bad food”

In slalom rose to the top of the world Eduard Hallberg was very disappointed on Monday in Bormio. The Finn started as the medal favorite, but made a mistake in the opening descent and derailed from the track.

“The ski was far away from the body and stuck a little in the snow. I was in too much of a hurry and I couldn’t get through,” Hallberg described his mistake.

He clocked a good start at the break, but the feeling was not good.

“It felt bad to count, but then you should focus on the basics even more closely. But this is a fucking sport! That’s part of the beauty of the job when it’s difficult.”

When Sanoma asked Hallberg how things have gone in Bormio outside of the performances, the man thought for a moment and let it burn:

“The food has been really bad, really much worse than in the World Cup. It’s a bit annoying. Not all hotels have a sauna. Our hotel does, but they don’t agree to turn it on. That’s also got me and ‘Jepen’ (Jesper Pohjolainen) for rounds.”

Of course, Hallberg remembered to say that the Olympic Games are a big deal for an athlete.

“It’s great to represent Finland. Yes, the Olympic Games mean a lot to me.”
