Audrey Pascual will be the flag bearer at the Opening Ceremony of the Paralympic Winter Games

The Spanish skier Audrey Pascual will be the flag bearer of the Spanish Paralympic Team at the Opening Ceremony of the Winter Games that will be held in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo (Italy) from March 6 to 15.

The name of the 21-year-old from Madrid was confirmed this Monday during the presentation at the Italian Embassy in Madrid of the five athletes who will form the delegation at the Italian event, where all of them will debut in the Winter Paralympic Games, although Higinio Rivero has already competed in two Summer Games.

Pascual is surely the most likely option for the medal table of the Spanish Paralympic Team after having been shining for several years in the Alpine Ski World Cup, in the category of sitting athletes. In fact, in this recently concluded campaign, she has added more than a dozen medals, managing to get on the podium in each of the five disciplines (slalom, downhill, giant, super-giant and combined), winning the Crystal Globe as a giant and finishing second, just 20 points away, overall in the circuit.

“Being a flag bearer makes me very excited. The truth is that I am very excited to be in the Paralympic Games, it is the dream of any athlete and we are all going to make it a reality,” Pascual celebrated after receiving the flag that he will carry at the Verona Arena on March 6 from Mario, a 9-year-old boy who is part of the ‘Paralympic Relay’ program.
