Despite bad luck with a fall: the ÖSV combined athletes still win a medal

After Johannes Lamparter’s two silver medals in the two individual competitions, there was a final Bronze again in the team sprint:

Johannes Lamparter and Stefan Rettenegger jumped and ran to third place behind Norway and Finland.

After the jumping, the Austrians were only in fifth place. Because both Stefan Rettenegger and Johannes Lamparter botched their jumps.

The gap to half-time leader Germany was almost half a minute and 8 seconds behind the medal positions.

“But nothing is lost yet,” assured Johannes Lamparter before the 2×7.5 kilometer cross-country run.

There was a dramatic race on the cross-country ski trail in heavy snowfall: Stefan Rettenegger had already caught up with the leading group at kilometer 4, but the Salzburg man then made a serious mistake.

Rettenegger fell on his final lap and lost touch with the leading duo of Norway and Finland. Johannes Lamparter secured the bronze medal for Austria in the finish.
