Figure skating: Juho Pirinen and Yuka Orihara, who lost their place in the Olympics, go to the World Championships

Milan-Cortina a Japanese-Finnish ice dancing couple who were left out of the Olympics due to their citizenship Yuka Orihara–Juho Pirinen gets to represent Finland at the World Figure Skating Championships in Prague, Czech Republic at the end of March.

Figure Skating Association announced about it on Monday. The second Finnish pair of ice dancing has finished 12th at the Olympics Juulia Turkkila-Matthias Versluis.

Finland had two places for the Milan-Cortina Olympics, but the place of Orihara and Pirinen had to be passed on, because the first mentioned did not have time to get Finnish citizenship in time.

Orihara can represent Finland in all other competitions except the Olympics. In December, he still couldn’t say how things would go with citizenship in the future. He should first get a permanent residence permit.

“We’ll see. At least it would be nice to get it. I didn’t know I didn’t have the right kind of residence permit until last year. It was really late when we realized it,” he commented HS:lle.
