Conflict in the Middle East: the basketball match between Paris and Tel Aviv postponed

The Euroleague postponed the match between Hapoel Tel Aviv and Paris Basketball, scheduled for Tuesday March 3 in Tel Aviv, following the deterioration of the security situation in the Middle East.

The match, “suspended due to the current situation in the region”, will be rescheduled to a later date, indicated the organizing body of the main European basketball championship on Saturday evening. “The Euroleague teams will evaluate the best options for rescheduling the match,” she explained.

Three relocated matches

The meeting, initially scheduled for January 9, had already been rescheduled due to transportation problems from the capital club to the Israeli capital. The Parisians then left Istanbul (Türkiye), where they had won against Anadolu Efes a few days earlier (84-79).

The Euroleague announced on Friday the relocation of three matches that Maccabi Tel-Aviv and Hapoel Tel-Aviv were to host in Israel, at the end of March and beginning of April, in Belgrade and Sofia, on the “recommendations of local authorities”.

An American-Israeli offensive began on Saturday against Iran, which responded with strikes targeting Israel in particular. The Euroleague also has a team in Dubai, a city which was also hit by a series of explosions.
