De Frutos drives Rayo against bottom team Oviedo

Rayo Vallecano beat Real Oviedo 3-0 this Wednesday, with a double included from the now forward Jorge de Frutos, in a match corresponding to matchday 23 of LaLiga EA Sports and which was postponed due to the poor condition of the grass at the Vallecas Stadium.

This match, controversial from its postponement to the subsequent institutional hookups in case that was correct and to set a new date, was finally played on a field in which many footballers from both teams slipped, especially during the first half.

The locals adapted better to this condition and soon created danger with two good shots from Ilias Akhomach, giving work to Aarón Escandell. In the 20th minute, the visiting goalkeeper was bothered again after a long-range shot by Florian Lejeune, which went wide and very close to the post.

After half an hour, Pedro Díaz made it 1-0 with a right-footed shot from the left corner of the Oviedo area that also went wide. Despite that, the franjirrojo’s dominance was evident and shortly before half-time it resulted in a goal because Andrei Ratiu shot hard from distance, Escandell stopped and De Frutos was attentive inside the area to finish off the 1-0 from point-blank range.

As soon as the second half began, Lucas Ahijado committed a penalty on Álvaro García due to an excessive load with his shoulder and De Frutos himself transformed that maximum penalty into the team’s second goal. In the 62nd minute, Álvaro García completed a quick attack with a left-footed shot inside the area and, on the rebound from the goalkeeper, he himself scored 3-0.

Although the Madrid team managed to score the fourth goal and later in the final stretch Oviedo was able to cover up its defeat, both defenses won. The result placed Rayo with 30 points, sitting in the middle of the table, while the Asturian team remained bottom with 17 points.
