The Football Federation charters a plane to evacuate athletes and other Spaniards from Saudi Arabia

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has chartered a plane with which it is preparing to evacuate Spaniards from Saudi Arabia, mainly linked to the world of sport, who have been affected by the military escalation in the Middle East as a result of the attack by the United States and Israel against Iran and the subsequent Iranian response by bombing a good part of the countries in the region.

The information, advanced on social networks by the Spanish Embassy in Saudi Arabia, has been confirmed by RFEF sources to Europa Press.

Specifically, it is a charter flight with “limited places” for both residents and Spaniards passing through Saudi Arabia, “fundamentally aimed at people who work in the sports sector,” the Embassy explained, pointing out that “preference will be given to people in vulnerable situations.”

The plane is scheduled to depart Riyadh at 1:45 p.m. this Tuesday for Madrid, after stopping in Hurghada (Egypt). The Embassy has invited those interested in being able to get on this flight to contact the RFEF by email [email protected].

In another statement addressed to Spaniards currently in the kingdom, the Embassy has indicated that “Saudi airspace remains open and the country’s main airports remain operational, although there are temporary closures for security reasons that may involve cancellations or delays.”

Likewise, he also specified that “the land borders with Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates are also open” and recalled that to enter the country it is necessary to be in possession of a visa, which can be obtained upon arrival at the border.
