Finnish Natalia Barthold, 31, became a victim of artificial intelligence on social media

Natalia Bartholdilla31, has a whopping 1.8 million followers on Instagram, and many of her videos have been viewed tens of millions of times. Now it makes him angry.

The person from Espoo has collected millions of followers and views with his videos showing incredible bodyweight tricks, which combine acrobatics, strength and body control. Now the videos have come under a new kind of – and really unpleasant – attention.

“Artificial intelligence steals my videos,” says Bartholdi.

He has published a video on Instagram that shows how a copy of his videos has been made with artificial intelligence, in which only the appearance of the woman doing tricks has been modified.

The movements and rhythm of the videos and the background are exactly the same as Barthold’s videos. Even the videos shot at his home have been copied as is. Or well, except for one small detail: a cuddly sloth lying on the couch named Simo has been replaced by the Pokémon character Pikachu.

Bartholdi has tried to get the copies removed and the accounts posting them held accountable, but to no avail. This despite the fact that he has a verified account, which should provide better support in the form of a real person in case of problems.

“Wrestling with this thing has been a nightmare. Instagram has made that chat so bad that it doesn’t work. It always just tells you to fill out the same form. But Instagram thinks it’s not exactly the same video. When the woman doesn’t look the same, Instagram won’t take it down.”

“If any real person were to watch the video for even a second, they would see that it was clearly copied by AI.”

Bartholdin videos are stolen for personal use also straight without editing. You can remove them by filling out the form. With artificial intelligence, Instagram seems to have fallen off the bandwagon of development.

According to Barthold, several of his videos have already been edited with the help of artificial intelligence, and one of the accounts had about 400,000 followers. He has also heard of other social media influencers who have been the target of similar content theft flavored with artificial intelligence.

“These same accounts and users also steal from other influencers and modify a slightly different-looking girl who does these same things.”

“It’s a really crazy thing. There’s more to do here than trying to delete some artificial intelligence videos.”

Stealing content creates at least two kinds of problems for the subject of the theft. The visibility of a genuine video decreases when more of the same content is offered. This directly affects income for many. In addition, people’s suspicion of amazing tricks increases when some are revealed to be edited by artificial intelligence.

“I’m afraid that people will soon think of me as a product of artificial intelligence, because there those types of artificial intelligence do the same things.”

Bartholdi calls for Instagram to do a better job of marking what is genuine and what is the product of artificial intelligence.

“Users and content creators deserve better. However, it’s wonderful to see how much support I’ve received from my followers around the world and praise for speaking openly about it. Together with other influencers, we strive to bring about change.”
