ÖSV ace Kriechmayr was second fastest in the first Courchevel training session

Vincent Kriechmayr drove in the first training session for the World Cup speed competitions Courchevel Friday to Sunday is the second best time. The Upper Austrian was 0.17 seconds slower than the Frenchman Matthieu Bailet on Wednesday in spring-like temperatures in the French Alps. “I immediately tried to accelerate a little more,” he says. “It was okay, but you shouldn’t overestimate it.”

The chance of the ball is still alive

Kriechmayr still has a mathematical chance in the Super-G overall World Cup, leader Marco Odermatt to intercept. A Super-G is scheduled for Friday (11:00 a.m.) and Sunday (10:45 a.m.). The departure on the 2023 World Cup course is scheduled for Saturday (11 a.m./all live ORF 1) walk across the stage. In Courchevel, Odermatt could not only secure the small Super-G ball, but also the downhill classification and the overall classification for the fifth time.

On Wednesday, the 28-year-old was still holding back, 1.78 seconds behind. Further ahead were the Austrians Marco Schwarz (5th/+0.49), Stefan Babinsky (7th/+0.72), Manuel Traninger (9th/+0.86) and Daniel Hemetsberger (13th/+1.24 minutes). Despite the warm temperatures, the slope was “very good,” reported Schwarz. “From the middle station onwards, it’s greasy in certain sections. But I’m convinced that it will be cool, fair races.”
