NBA superstar Luka Doncic of the Los Angeles Lakers has separated from his fiancée Anamaria Goltes after around ten years of relationship. The 27-year-old basketball player confirmed this to the US broadcaster ESPN. According to media reports, the Slovenian international is also in a custody dispute over their two daughters.
“I love my daughters more than anything and have tried everything so that they could be with me in the United States during the season. Since that was not possible, I recently made the difficult decision to end my engagement,” Doncic said in a statement to ESPN. “Everything I do is for the happiness of my daughters – and I will always fight to be with them and offer them the best life possible.”
Second daughter was born in December
Doncic and Goltes have known each other since they were teenagers and have been in a relationship since 2016. The couple got engaged in July 2023. Their first daughter was born in November 2023 in the USA, when Doncic was still playing for the Dallas Mavericks. Their second daughter was born in Slovenia last December, shortly after Doncic moved to the Lakers. He had traveled home specifically for the birth and therefore missed two Lakers games.
With an average of 32.5 points per game, Doncic is the best points scorer in the North American professional league so far this season.
