Bundesliga: Rolfes after referee scolding Hoeneß: “I don’t understand”

Bayer Leverkusen’s sports director Simon Rolfes cannot understand Uli Hoeneß’s strong criticism after the 1-1 draw between Bayer Leverkusen and FC Bayern Munich. “No, I don’t understand and I don’t see it that way,” said Rolfes.

The 44-year-old explained: “There were certainly situations that were checked by the video referee, where there was a bit of an interruption. But otherwise the referee let the game run its course. There was flow in the game, there were scenes in the goal area, there were duels in midfield or on the pitch.” Rolfes added: “I experienced completely different games, even though I’m a little younger.”

Two sendings off for Bayern

Bayern’s honorary president Hoeneß said in the “Bild” about the referee team around main referee Christian Dingert: “This is the worst performance by a referee team that I have ever experienced in a Bundesliga game.”

Dingert also sent off the two Munich players Nicolas Jackson and Luis Díaz in the top game of the Bundesliga on Saturday. Jackson saw red, Díaz saw yellow-red. In addition, two Bayern goals from Jonathan Tah and Harry Kane were disallowed due to previous handball.
