Chelsea FC fined and banned from transfer

Chelsea FC has to pay a fine of around 12.4 million euros (10.75 million pounds) for previous violations of English Premier League rules. The league also imposed a professional transfer ban on the club, which was suspended for one year. However, a nine-month transfer ban for the academy sector comes into force immediately. The club accepted the penalty.

Violations occurred under ex-owner Abramowitsch

As the Premier League announced, the violations cover the period from 2011 to 2018, when the London club was still owned by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich.

According to this, payments were made to players, unregistered agents and other third parties during this time by third parties associated with the club without these being disclosed.

The league considered the fact that Chelsea itself reported the violations after the takeover by a consortium led by American businessman Todd Boehly to be a mitigating factor.
